Prof. Wil Hout,
2009 Distinguished Research Fellow


IUEU Visiting Distinguished Research Fellow Prof. Wil Hout was in residence at Murdoch University from 12 - 20 February 2009. Dr. Wil Hout is Associate Professor of World Development at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague and currently serves as Dean of the Institute. Before joining the Institute of Social Studies in 1999, he worked at the Universities of Rotterdam, Leiden and Nijmegen. He held visiting professorships at the University of Sheffield (U.K.), Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, U.S.A.), the Institute of South East Asian Studies (Singapore) and Central University of Iowa (U.S.A.).

He is the author of Capitalism and the Third World (Edward Elgar, 1993) and The Politics of Aid Selectivity (Routledge, 2007), editor of EU Development Policy and Poverty Reduction (Ashgate, 2007), and co-editor of Regionalism across the North-South Divide (with Jean Grugel; Routledge, 1999). Publications on international political economy and development have appeared in various edited collections and in such journals as the European Journal of International Relations, Development and Change, Journal of Development Studies, Third World Quarterly, Critical Asian Studies and Acta Politica: International Journal of Political Science.


Prof. Hout presented at three member universities during his stay in Australia.
