Celebrating the European Union at 50 Years
As part of its activities to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, Murdoch University and the Innovative Universities European Union (IUEU) Centre presented a public lecture on Monday, December 10, 2007 by Dr. Kristina Spohr Readman, lecturer in international history at the London School of Economics. Dr. Spohr Readman spoke to a large audience on ‘Peace, prosperity and security: The European project at 50 years … and at 100’ and participated in a spirited discussion afterwards. Marking the formal opening of the Murdoch node of the IUEU Centre, the event was hosted by Murdoch Vice-Chancellor Professor John Yovich and attended by special guest His Excellency Mr. Bruno Julien, ambassador and head of delegation of the European Commission to Australia and New Zealand.
