The EU-AU Global Leadership Program
FLINDERS UNIVERSITY, AUSTRALIA
As a member of the Global Citizenship Consortium, Flinders University in 2008 is offering: “Leadership in a Global World” to EU, Australian and other interested students, which together with a semester of work will give a certificate in leadership on completion.
The program builds on and acknowledges the Macquarie Global Leadership Program, which has been in place since 2005.
Keeping with the broad general concern for the notions of globalisation and participation in the modern world, the 3-day 2008 program includes academic seminars, experiential learning in various Adelaide communities; visits to local organisations, site visits, cultural tours and project work in teams.
Cultural events include an Indigenous and archaeology program, complete with cultural excursions and activities in South Australia’s wonderful Coorong district and Adelaide’s Festival and Cultural Precincts.
The major theme of the event is “Global Contacts”.
The educational program will focus on exploring:
- Pre-contact
- European Colonisation
- Modern Australia/Modern Europe
- Changes: environmental challenges.
The theme will use South Australia’s Indigenous and European settlement and migration history and some unique local stories to invite participants to think more broadly about global leadership and global citizenship. Using history, art, religion and politics this exciting program will stimulate and excite the imagination, call for active participation in all aspects of the program, provide a uniquely Australian experience, while also providing opportunities for participants to make friends with Australian and international students.
“Leadership in a Global World” is offered at Flinders University, in Adelaide, South Australia from Monday, 18 February to Wednesday, 20 February 2008.
The full cost of the program for each student is set at $650.00 AU, which includes accommodation, most meals, tours and local site visits. Some optional tours may be offered. For more information, click on the following links:
