Cotutelle Agreement
‘Cotutelle’ agreements were originally established by France for bilateral doctoral enrolment/co-enrolment and exchange. Students can be enrolled at two universities in different countries to study a PhD through these models of international cooperation.
Cotutelle agreements are now recognised as the international model, and has been adopted (with variations) by other countries
Macquarie University
Macquarie University encourages joint PhD enrolment with other research active international universities. Higher degree research candidates enrolled in a PhD are able to enrol both at Macquarie and another international university and obtain a degree from each institution while under a co-tutelle agreement. Australian domestic students enrolled at Macquarie University are particularly encouraged to apply. Further, qualified international applicants will receive Macquarie scholarship support during 2007.
